POKOTABI / Sutaminaen
スタミナ苑
Alongside premium tongue, mixed offal and liver, the menu features beef offal stew, seasonal soups and black bean almond tofu. Here’s what to expect at Sutaminaen, where reservations are not accepted and payment is cash only.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Order premium tongue or top-grade skirt steak, then try a plate of mixed offal or liver to compare the different cuts. At Sutaminaen, grilled meat is complemented by slow-simmered dishes and seasonal specials. One diner called the mixed offal the best they had ever tasted; another praised the texture of black tripe and omasum. Reviews of the liver describe it as sweet-tasting and easy to eat, without an unpleasant edge. Premium tongue and skirt steak are also popular choices, and ordering individual cuts lets you explore beyond a platter of assorted meat.
Between rounds of grilled meat, try the beef offal stew, available in miso or salt-seasoned versions. Both are on the menu, and one diner singled out the salt and miso stews as memorable dishes. Others look forward to the combination of daikon and meat. Seasonal vegetables and soups offer a change of pace from the grill; one reviewer specifically mentioned the daegutang soup. For a rice-based finish, the menu includes bibimbap and gukbap. Choose galbi gukbap for a substantial meal, or a half portion if you’d prefer something lighter.
Almond tofu is a sweet way to finish. Black bean almond tofu appears on the menu and has won praise from diners. After the meat and stew, it rounds off the meal with dessert.
The restaurant does not take reservations and accepts cash only. Waits can be on the long side, so allow plenty of time. Free parking is available.
